How Adapter Sleeves Work
Slide the adapter sleeve onto the smooth cylindrical shaft.
Position the bearing (with a matching tapered bore) over the sleeve.
Use a locking nut and lock washer to tighten the adapter sleeve against the shaft.
As the nut is tightened, the bearing’s inner ring is drawn onto the taper of the adapter sleeve — creating a secure press fit.
This method gives:
Accurate axial location
Preload control
Easy assembly & disassembly
No need for shaft tapering
