Features & Benefits
Designed for combined radial and thrust (axial) loads in one direction (typical for tapered roller bearing sets)
Separable cone + cup design: easier installation, proper axial preload/clearance adjustment
Imperial size makes it suited for equipment specifying inch dimensions or historical designs
Robust for heavy duty applications where shaft is axially located and subject to significant radial loads
Typical Applications
Gearboxes, drive shafts, transmissions where both radial load and some axial positioning are required
Machinery and equipment using inch-series bearings (older or retrofit equipment)
Axle hubs, industrial drives, agricultural machinery with combi loads
Situations where matched cone + cup sets ensure correct bearing performance
Ordering / Engineering Notes
When specifying: ensure you request the set: cone (LM 48548) and cup (LM 48510)
Check that the axial load direction corresponds with the bearing’s capability (the set supports thrust in one direction unless arranged otherwise)
Since it is inch size, verify that the shaft and housing dimensions (bore, shoulders, fillet radii) match the inlet requirements (e.g., fillet radius relief ~ 1.3 mm on cup)
Confirm lubrication, speed, environment align with operating conditions (imperial series often used in rugged/mechanical equipment)
If replacing a metric bearing, double-check that dimensions, tolerances and fits are compatible.
